As I write this, several days of much-needed rain have fallen on the Shenandoah Valley. Where does rain come from? You may give the short answer, "Rain comes from clouds." Or, you may give the longer answer, "Water evaporates from the oceans and lakes, etc. But how does all of this come about?
Jesus said in Matthew 5:25, "...your Father who is in heaven...causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." God sends the rain!
The Apostle Paul told the men of Lystra, who had erroneously thought they were the Greek gods, Zeus and Hermes, after they healed a lame man (Acts 14:15-17):
...a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them. 16 In the generations gone by He permitted all the nations to go their own ways; 17 and yet He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.
The psalmist said in Psalm 104:13:
He waters the mountains from His upper chambers;
The earth is satisfied with the fruit of His works.
14 He [God, V. 1] causes the grass to grow for the cattle,
And vegetation for the labor of man...
God sends the rain. We should be thankful for this and all of His many blessings (1 Thes. 5:17-19).
